New technologies

Basel Aero plans to bring the latest technological aviation-related innovations to its southern airports. One such new technology is an independent system for passengers to register their own electronic tickets.  Using this system, passengers may access the Web site of the airline, choose their travel dates, reserve a ticket and pay by credit card. Thanks to this new technology, a passenger will be able to choose a seat in the cabin, print the boarding pass at home and then simply arrive at the airport. Besides being convenient for passengers, electronic tickets benefit the airlines themselves, allowing the elimination of ticket printing expenses.

Independent Internet registry along with self-registration kiosks will reduce congestion at airports. These technologies will free passengers from completing formal processes at the airport, which is an especially beneficial circumstance given the rise in airport throughput.

Several technologies are employed in the civilian aviation industry to ensure the safety of air travel. For example, systems that collect and consolidate all information about the current state of the aircraft verify that the aircraft is in compliance with operation schedules and is allocating its resources properly. All technical processes of ground operations including aircraft tractors, shuttle buses, registration counters, personal, etc., are controlled in real-time from a central location.

The process of controlling the flight of aircraft is automated and occurs in real-time.  This guarantees a level of safety matching that of the most reliable international aviation companies. There exists an array of practical solutions that the Aviation Sector plans to implement in the management of its airports and aviation companies.  Among these solutions are various integrated databases, systems facilitating communication with branch facilities and the use of convenient interfaces for communicating information to passengers.

Advanced information technologies are becoming serious competitive advantages for aviation companies and airports that serve as large transportation hubs. They enable airports and airlines to leverage resources more effectively, improve quality, increase level of service and guarantee an acceptable level of expenditures.  Standards in civilian aviation are established and observed with the aid of these technologies.
